We present a symplectic Particle-in-Cell algorithm which uses a space coordinate instead of time as the independent variable. The algorithm follows from canonical transformation of the relativistic Low Hamiltonian for collisionless plasma to the Frenet-Serret coordinate system. It presents the advantage to greatly simplify numerical simulation of problems such as tracking with space charge throughout an electron gun.

We present a symplectic Particle-in-Cell algorithm which uses a space coordinate, instead of time, as the independent variable.
The algorithm derives from a Hamiltonian. The Hamiltonian is obtained from canonical transformation of the relativistic Low Hamiltonian for collisionless plasma.
This method presents the advantage to greatly simplify numerical simulation of problems such as tracking with space charge throughout an electron gun.
